Ambulatory
Care
The Coalition convenes ambulatory care organizations to develop regional plans and strategies that support the ability to maintain business continuity, provide surge capacity and to stimulate sharing across organizations. Through Coalition activities, we improve coordination, communication and effective use of resources in times of crisis and minimize impacts to services. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
Ancillary
Services
The Coalition helps to create a forum for ancillary service providers to improve communication and coordination within the region, and to support business continuity with ancillary service providers such as dialysis centers, the Puget Sound Blood Center, surgi-centers, the Washington Poison Center, and others. Coordinated strategies ensure that all providers and resources across the spectrum of care are used effectively during emergencies. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
Behavioral
Health
The Coalition works with behavioral health providers to develop systems to ensure the continuity of care for those receiving chemical dependency and/or mental health treatment in a post-disaster environment. We facilitate behavioral health providers to work together, and with other partners, to establish response strategies in addressing the mental health needs of adults and children associated with the trauma of a disaster. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
Hospitals
The Coalition enhances the ability of hospitals to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies by coordinating on surge capacities, evacuation planning, patient tracking, decontamination, fatality management planning, drills, exercises, altered standards of care, and pharmaceutical supplies. The Coalition assists hospitals in meeting Joint Commission Emergency Preparedness Standards and NIMS compliance requirements. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
In-Home
Services
The Coalition convenes home health and home care organizations in King County to encourage the sharing of strategies and tools, to support the development of mutual aid, to provide education and technical support, and to sustain and increase access to care in an emergency. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
Long Term
Care
The Coalition advances plans that increase the effective use of resources among long-term care providers such as adult family homes, boarding houses and nursing homes. In maximizing surge capacity, improving business continuity planning, and creating regional plans we help to build resiliency in long-term care organizations and expand access to information and communication. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
Pediatric
The Coalition supports planning for age-appropriate medical management for children involved in a large-scale health emergency, including those with disabilities and special healthcare needs. Our collaborative planning establishes an infrastructure for healthcare providers and agencies to care for children, provide guidance to families and ensure safe childbirth services and newborn care are available in a disaster. The Coalition also assists in meeting accreditation and licensing standards related to emergency preparedness and response.
