Established in 2005, the King County Healthcare Coalition has progressively built a strong framework for a coordinated response within Seattle and throughout King County. Our goal is to build and enhance partnerships that allow our healthcare community to make strategic unified decisions effectively, and to advocate to emergency management partners on behalf of healthcare organizations. Whether responding to an immediate surge of patients or a contagion, or mitigating the impacts of winter weather, we have the relationships, systems and plans needed to ensure a coordinated regional response to any crisis.

Our work includes:
  • Planning – Working with regional healthcare organizations to make the best use of available resources by providing a shared planning, communications and incident management infrastructure. Learn More
  • Training & Exercises – Providing emergency preparedness training and exercises to create consistency in response across the region and to ensure the continuity of operations. Learn More
  • Resource & Information Sharing – Developing strategies for regional information exchange, resource sharing, and critical infrastructure planning. This includes WATrac, Washington state’s Healthcare Incident Management System. Learn More
  • Response – The Coalition works with healthcare organizations to establish coordinated systems to share information and resources. During a response, the Healthcare Coalition Executive Council members serve as policy advisors to the Local Health Officer. Learn More
