Forums
Healthcare Coalition Forums are open to all Healthcare Coalition participants and are designed to promote dialogue across all types of healthcare organizations, as well as provide participants with timely regional preparedness briefings and Healthcare Coalition updates.
Participants are encouraged to discuss and share best practices through networking, roundtable discussions, and facilitated Q & A sessions. Forums attract a very broad audience of healthcare professionals & providers as well as emergency partners from around the region.
Forums occur three to four times annually and are usually topic specific. Forum dates / topics can be found on our calendar of events.
Trainings
The Coalition hosts regional trainings for healthcare providers, which include orientation to response plans, briefings on particular threats, and training on specific response capabilities. Learn More
Exercises
The Coalition supports healthcare organizations with regional exercises that help the region and organizations test capabilities and capacities to respond to emergencies. Regional exercises focus on responding to key vulnerabilities in our community and are also intended to provide a platform for healthcare organizations to network with local first responders on all-hazard issues. Alternate Care Facilities Committee
The Alternate Care Facilities Committee is led by Public Health-Seattle & King County with support from the Coalition to establish and implement an alternate care facilities plan that will deliver non-complex healthcare services during a disaster in a building of convenience. The committee meets on an as needed basis to discuss updates to the plan
Ambulatory Care Committee
The Ambulatory Care Committee works together to discuss preparedness and response issues pertinent to clinics, including surge capacity, business continuity planning, and coordination of information, training needs and exercises. The Committee meets on a quarterly basis and is open to all ambulatory or ancillary care providers within King County.
Behavioral Health Committee
The Behavioral Health Committee supports the continuation and expansion of collaborative activities and services that promote resiliency and reduce the mental health risks in the event of a community-wide emergency.
The mission and purpose of the group includes developing systems to ensure continuity of care in a post-disaster environment for those receiving chemical dependency and/or mental health treatment. The committee meets on an as needed basis.
Disaster Clinical Advisory Committee
The Disaster Clinical Advisory Committee is an integral component of an ethical, responsive, transparent, and clinically responsible health emergency decision-making structure for King County. This multi-disciplinary committee provides expert clinical advice for our health emergency planning, such as regional medical surge and crisis standards of care plans. The committee also advises the local health officer and other policymakers during health emergencies and response activities. Over 20 clinical roles and a variety of healthcare organizations are represented, including nurses, physicians, mental health, clinics, and health systems.
Hospital Committee
The Hospital Preparedness Committee supports regional hospitals in order to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Committee members discuss relevant preparedness and response planning initiatives and best practices, resource needs and regional trainings and exercises. The committee meets on a monthly basis and is open to hospital emergency managers and other emergency management partners within King County.
In-Home Services Committee
The In Home Services Committee convenes organizations that provide home health and home care services to discuss strategies and tools to ensure continuity of care during emergencies or disasters for the clients they serve. The committee meets on a quarterly basis and is open to all in home service providers
Nursing Home Steering Committee
The Nursing Home Steering Committee provides guidance and recommendations to Coalition staff on behalf of members of the King County Long Term Care Mutual Aid Plan on issues such as coordination, communications, and the effective use of resources among primarily nursing home providers. The committee convenes quarterly to monitor, review and exercise all aspects of the LTC-MAP.
Patient Tracking Committee
The Patient Tracking Committee brings together partners from eight counties and a broad range of disciplines to provide recommendations for the development of a vision, strategy and concept of operations for patient tracking in a catastrophic disaster that will promote regional consistency and standardization. The committee meets on an as needed basis.
Pediatric Committee
The Pediatric Committee brings together a broad range of pediatric providers to collaborate planning efforts for age-appropriate medical management for children involved in large-scale health emergencies, including those with disabilities and special healthcare needs.

- The committee meets on an as needed basis and participants include all healthcare providers who care for children.Pediatric Taskforces:Pediatric Mental Health Task Force: Taskforce participants plan for appropriate and regionally coordinated disaster mental health services for children, adolescents and their families, including those with disabilities and special healthcare needs, in the event of a health emergency.
Pediatric Triage & Critical Care Task Force: Taskforce participants establish guidance and plans for the triage and management of pediatric patients, both in the pre-hospital and hospital settings during large-scale emergencies, including mass casualty incidents and communicable disease outbreaks, such as pandemic influenza.
Perinatal Task Force: Taskforce participants ensure that planning for the continuity of safe childbirth services and care of pregnant women, new mothers, newborns and infants, in the event of a large-scale health emergency is addressed and supported throughout our regional healthcare community.
